1505 pop up soup kitchen
Here at 1505 Kitchen Space, we believe in giving back to the community. To that end, we sponsor a mobile "pop up" kitchen to provide hot meals for the food insecure population in our area. Some of our amazing chefs here have volunteered to prepare food: not just sandwiches or a pot of soup, but professional cuisine based on their particular expertise. At least once a month a group of volunteers takes their product to a location where the need has been determined to be significant. They set up the tent and tables and serve the local population food that will not just fill empty stomachs, but make a statement that they are valuable as our fellow community residents and as such deserve quality food just as much as the attendees at a high dollar corporate meeting or political fundraiser.
Also, at each of our pop up events will be a social worker who is familiar with all of the services available for un-housed or food insecure residents of the community: a kind of "roving navigation center," as well as a counselor for folks just looking for someone to talk to about their situation.
1505 Kitchen Space donates all of the kitchen time and other resources we have available to make this happen, and the actual costs of the raw materials are covered by grants and donations. If you are interested in being involved, or would like to help defray these expenses, please contact Brad for more information. Donations are all received through the non-profit arm of our umbrella corporation, Salubris, and are fully tax deductible.
